Spoiled at My Job

Best news ever. I had steak at work today. Not just steak but the whole awesome meal. Steak, baked potato, corn on the cob, and garlic bread. Fantastic! I think I figured out why they feed us too. It gets so slow around there sometimes that you do not feel like it is worth it. When steak is involved though, it is worth it. Smooth move Agrium!

The first two hours flew by but the rest of the shift was quite slow. The quick portion reminded me of a conversation with a friend. She said she was killing time. Here I was wondering where it had all gone and she admitted to committing time genocide all day. I told her she could do that between 4 pm and 1 am (the hours which I had to be at work) but, like I said, only the first two hours went by fast. Another time tidbit comes from my cousin who recalls a cartoon in which a villain stole time. Whenever he hears a bunch of people say they wonder where all the time has gone he gets suspicious (probably not in actuality, it just makes for good conversation). Still! Time is either being stolen or murdered and it is not always appreciated. Oh, and for anyone who is reading this: Please do not steal or murder time on June 10th or 11th. That would be greatly appreciated.

I do not work the Monday of the long weekend. I was actually hoping I could reap the benefits of working that day. I work 9 hour shifts and one hour is always overtime. Guaranteed overtime is awesome on a stat holiday. It is very unfortunate that my crew was booked off for that day. Maybe I can hope that someone will decide they need it off and that I am the man to cover for them. *crosses fingers* Otherwise, I need to find myself something to do this Sunday and Monday. Someone had brought up the idea of going to Eston for the weekend but my days off only begin Sunday so that would not work out for me. I do not get long weekends. I do get my weekends more often though. . .and my weekends are often mid-week.

How is this for craziness? I do not like radio but I wanted to listen to something. I was browsing the radio stations and stopped at 94.1. Apparently it is a European station. Who knew? I might listen to it more often. We will see. But I heard that Limburg, a place in the southern Netherlands, is legalizing and selling marijuana in coffee shops. It turns out that coffee shop is a term for a place that sells hashish and marijuana. Not the kind of coffee shops we have, or so I think. Anyway, they are legalizing selling 3 grams a day to customers. Some people from the Netherlands like it but others do not like that their country is being associated with drugs. I found an interesting quote about the term coffee shop: "The word "coffee" in the title of the Amsterdam Coffeeshop Directory should not be taken as condoning the use of addictive drugs. Drinks containing caffeine should be used with care and moderation. Alternatively, stay on the grass!"

There was plenty more on the European station and it was beginning to make me wonder about American problems. Either America tells us less or things are worse elsewhere. Probably a mixture of both.

Well, that is all for now. Have a good steak. . .I mean, night!
